Library Opening

May 2025

The new library in Kituntu is now open, thanks to a generous book collection effort here in the U.S. This space offers children access to a wide variety of books, sparking their curiosity and love for reading. Alongside books, we’ve launched internet access and digital literacy resources, starting with four computers integrated into their learning program. This marks a big step forward for education and opportunity in our community.

Access to clean water became a reality with the renovation of a spring water collection point in Rakai District. This site now serves families from five villages—Kituntu, Kakoma, Kaita, Lwanda, and Kisimbanyiriri—delivering safe, reliable water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation. The project represents a major improvement in daily health and wellbeing for hundreds of community members.

Over four phases, we distributed 96 pigs to 96 individuals in Kituntu and neighboring villages. Funded entirely by Madam Joy Ssengonzi, this project continues to empower households with sustainable agricultural assets and economic dignity.

After the success of our piggery project, we launched a poultry initiative to extend income-generating opportunities to even more families. With limited funding, we provided poultry birds to 94 people across Kituntu and surrounding communities. This effort supports sustainable farming and daily nutrition while boosting local livelihoods.

Recognizing the vital role of farming in our community, this project empowers small-scale farmers to move from subsistence to surplus. Across three rainy seasons, we’ve supported over 150 farmers with maize and bean seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and advisory services. With over $14,500 invested, this initiative helps families grow food for both home and market—creating stability and financial independence.
